Computer science and especially software engineering are still male-dominated fields—both in education and industry. This leads to challenges such as discrimination, unequal opportunities, and biases in algorithms. Diversity dimensions such as gender, sexuality, socioeconomic background, age, ethnicity, and disability influence who can develop and access technology.
This seminar explores the importance of (gender) diversity in software development. We will examine recent research on challenges faced in industry, nonprofit organizations, academia, and society, as well as best practices to promote equity in the field.
